50 facts about me.

#1 – i was a terrible nail biter until i turned 30. i just stopped one day cold turkey, and for the last 5 months my nails look gorgeous. they’ve since become one of my favorite things about me.

#2 – i love, and i mean LOVE cupcakes. i pretend like im good enough for cupcake wars every time I bake, and i frost them like its an art project. all of a sudden i’m trying to make sugar look like glass shards. haha. i’m ridiculous.

#3 – when i was 10, the dance studio i belonged to used me in about 18 different numbers throughout every competition. one, they wanted to lower the age bracket cause i was dancing with the older girls, and two, i was good enough to dance with the older girls so they wanted me everywhere. this is massive stress on a 10yr old, and apparently caused me to develop little twitches. my parents were convinced i was born with tourettes and took me to see a specialist.

i know. lol. i can’t even.

#4 – i move so much you’d think my dad was in the army. i think i’m secretly in some way trying to “find” that thing that completes me… whatever that actually is. then again, i’m also a gypsy, according to my mom, and i’ve spontaneously picked up and disappeared from the time i could drive a car. i just get really bored, really fast, with my surroundings.

#5 – i can sing. very well. i’ve recorded in a few studios with some amazing producers, and if you’ve heard people say i sound like kelly clarkson, its true. but its rare that i will sing for anyone because i get super embarassed, so theres no way i could possibly have a music career… ever. lol. my mom has heard me sing maybe twice if even that. my friend kim and my sister joanna are the only people i will sing FULL ON for at any time of the day. i have no idea why haha.

#6 – if i wasn’t jessica i was supposed to be named layla (cause my dad is a hardcore clapton fan), leilani (cause then my dad wanted to mix together his love for clapton… and apparently hawaii), or josette marie (my grandmother’s name is josephine but she always hated it, so my mom tried switching it up and she still hated it). FINALLY, and thank god for perfect timing, the tv show SOAP was on in the hospital room when my mom had me. katherine helmond (mona from ‘who’s the boss’) played a character named jessica tate. so it stuck.

#7 – i was on the montel williams show for a prom makeover in 1997. my boyfriend at the time actually surprised me by walking through the door in a tux and holding a dozen roses. i basically died of embarrassment. i thought he was at football practice. haha. then montel asks him how i look and he grabs my hand and says, “she looks like an angel”. the entire football team for a good 6 months later never let him live that down. lol.

#8 – walking around a supermarket by myself is one of my favorite things to do. going at like 1am when no one is there is so peaceful to me. that’s when i love to shop.

#9 – sylvester stallone saw one of my modeling pictures when i was 3, and wanted me to play his daughter in the “Rocky” films. i don’t know the exact details about what happened, but rocky jr. was already born, so my mom said they were either planning to do rocky 3 and script in a daughter, or give rocky another child at some point which would have been me. either way, stallone loved me and wanted me in, but for family reasons that i won’t get into… my mom turned it down….

#10 – i can’t listen to “somewhere over the rainbow” because it makes me cry. like literally from the first second i hear “some”. that started when i was only 3, and has yet to go away, and most likely never will.

#11 – i have a very bad addictive personality. i get obsessed with things or situations for short periods of time.

#12 – i’m extremely OCD about certain things. ie: i dont like a dirty makeup bag and i will wipe down every last piece of makeup IN the bag as long as its clean, haha. i freak out if my cell phone gets to 50% battery left… i need to find a charger IMMEDIATELY. i can’t pull out of my driveway until i find a song i like. i can’t eat a sub without flicking the powder and seeds from the bread off my fingers after every bite i take.  lol

#13 – when i was 20, i performed in orlando at pleasure island when i was in a girl group. we came down from the radio booth and people were outside taking pictures and asking for autographs…. it was so weird to me.

#17 – i believe in past lives and i’m convinced that i lived in the 30′s and 40′s. the hairstyles, the clothes… even the music. anytime i hear billie holiday, its like i’m watching a movie in my head of me in that time. i’ll randomly see myself in a dark bedroom sitting at my vanity and sewing something as i hum along with rollers in my hair. its been happening since i was younger. i see something different every time but it feels so real. you can probably imagine how much i love ‘the notebook’ because of all this ;)

#21 – i love to gamble and i love casinos. i would think nothing of going to atlantic city at 2 in the morning, staying for a few hours, and then driving home at 7am. i’ve done it many, many times… and dragged friends along in the process. hehe. it’s without a doubt my biggest vice. for that reason alone, i could never live in vegas. i’d most likely end up homeless.

#22 – i have an uncanny skill at reading faces. i can tell instantly if someone is lying or exaggerating. i’d probably do very well as a poker player haha.

#23 – justin bieber is my guilty pleasure.

#25 – i’ve been having prophetic dreams since i was 8 years old, and 90% of the time they actually happen.

#28 – as open as people think i am online with my blog and whatever else… there are so many things about me that i will never tell a soul. my mom always gets mad that i tell people everything. what people would be surprised about is that i’m actually VERY private. i just talk about the stuff that really doesn’t matter too much. but my blog barely even scratches the surface. i have many, many secrets.

#29 – i like ketchup and sauerkraut on a hot dog bun without the hot dog. i dip doritos in sour cream. i mix avocado with tuna instead of mayo. haha i have slightly strange food cravings.

#30 – i have a serious fear of clowns thanks to my mom and dad decorating my room when i was a baby with “emmet kelly” stuff everywhere. google him if you’re under the age of 50. lol. what would possess them to do such a thing is beyond me, but it left me traumatized.

#31 – i have an obsession with the paranormal. i’ve been doing EVP’s for years and my entire family and best friend and HER family do it too. its become like an actual tradition during holidays when we are all together.

#36 – when i was 7 i legit got lost in disney world. hahaha, seriously. disney world. the LAST place you wanna lose your kid. i was standing with my parents watching a live show…like ya DO… and i moved up a few people to get closer. my parents were so crafty though. they repeated a list of the next 2 rides we’d be going to in case we somehow got separated… so i remembered. when the show emptied out, they were apparently looking for me, and i couldn’t find them, so i went to 20,000 leagues under the sea… thinking they’d be there since that was the first ride in the list. seven years old, i was so quick. ha. they weren’t there, so i told the operators that i was lost but my parents said to come to this ride. i ended up on the ride with the captain as his “co-captain”, and under the sea we went, bubbles up the windows (if you remember this ride you know exactly what im talking about), and here i was in my glory. the dumbo ride was the next in our lineup, so i walked over there right after. because my mother was panicking and freaking out that i was gone, she couldn’t remember her own lineup, haha… so her and my dad were running around having a nervous breakdown. at the dumbo ride, i go over to the girl working in the little booth and i said im lost and can’t find my parents. so she let me sit on her lap and told me to speak into the microphone and say my name, where im from, my age, and what ride im at. haha. so my parents i guess heard me and went running through fantasyland to get to me, and that was that. i will never forget this for as long as i live, and i remember my mother screaming and crying at the same time, and i was like completely unfazed by the whole event lol. i was so excited that the “dumbo lady” as i called her, let me press the button to make the dumbos fly, i didn’t even care i was lost. but please believe every time i see that ride, to this day, its the first thing that pops in my head ;)

#37 – i was a dancer for alice cooper’s frightfest show, and we had lunch together one day before rehearsal, just the two of us, and i was pleasantly surprised. i grew up thinking this guy was a nutcase with all his horror stuff on stage. turned out to be sweet as a cupcake. and he loved talking about dancing with me cause his wife was a ballerina for years i guess. heh. nice guy.

FUCK is one of my favorite words in my vocabulary lol.

#47 – i got lost by myself in germany. i was in a mall in the middle of like frankfurt, or something, and i got in an argument with 3 of my coworkers/friends. because i’m so stubborn, i stomped off and figured i’d meet up with them eventually. an hour went by and my phone service decided to hate me, and i couldn’t get in touch with anyone. i happened to remember the name of the place that we were supposed to be going to after, so once i calmed myself down (cause please believe i did panic a little. at least if i was in an english speaking country, i could manage), i hailed a cab. got in the cab and had to speak whatever german i knew (and i only knew a few sentences and words) to try and tell this driver where to take me. he spoke NO english. finally i realized i had a business card RANDOMLY for the place i had to go to, and i showed it to him and i finally got there. the girls were like WHERE WERE YOU!?! when i finally showed up. needless to say i think i have a problem with just going off on my own in places i shouldn’t. lol.
